2002 Ford Explorer Door Locks Not Working


Originally, the locks would try to close and they couldn't (almost like there wasn't enough power to close them) so the relay would keep trying over and over and drain my To test door opening from inside push long rod towards rear. -Lube all moving parts with white lithium grease spray or something good. -Fit up Window guide being certain upper tab Is there some actuator or something that has failed? The sealer comes off rather easily.

My door lock remote is fine as far as the battery goes. Anyone have an idea how to troubleshoot this? It depends on the make and model how they are which design they have. Thanks for the info, Why dont they have a recall for this?

Working... that plastic thing you described (mine is yellow) when it is pushed up then the door can be unlocked with the key. A volt meter, available at any auto parts store, can be used to check the voltage to the individual lock solenoids and switches.

I've taken it to a Nissan dealership and they said it was the door lock actuator as it still makes the locking noise but doesn't lock. When I got the motors apart I found the culprit chip, removed it and wedged a piece of acid free solder in place of the chip and reassembled. I tried swapping the passenger door lock switch for the drivers side, same problem which I think would eliminate the switch. THANKS FOR THE AWESOME TIPS. Mine unlocks the driver door only if I press it once, then unlocks all doors on the second press. Test the doors to make sure all is well, and button it back up!
